I Want to Breathe

I Want to Breathe

you in I’m not talking about
perfume or even the sweet

odor of your skin but of the
air itself I want to share

your air inhaling what you
exhale I’d like to be that

close two of us breathing
each other as one as that.

I *love* tND/ Go see the Join

February 22, 2002, I saw my first the New Deal show and my mind was blown. I’d never seen or heard anything quite like them– live progressive break-beat house. The role they’ve played in my life ever since has been monumental. That first show was a defining moment in my life. It managed to shift my whole perspective on music – what music is – what it can sound like- what it can do – what my body wants to do when I hear it – how it can make me feel. I left the Bowery Ballroom that night with a whole new appreciation for the music in my life that had already touched me…heard things in that music I’d never heard before. The icing on the cake– they are a group of musicians who make my body move unlike any other – period. Hours upon hours of hip grinding, ass shaking, head banging, arms flailing, sweat flying goodness. Thank you, Jamie, Darren, and Dan. I love you!

So, while Dan is wrapped up in his other project, Dragonette (a very bitchin band — check my blog for some sexy Dragonette videos), Jamie and Darren have recruited many a talented musician to collaborate with them in his absence. This project is called the Join. Be sure to check them out at these upcoming shows:

Pussy Cat Lounge

Pussy Cat Lounge

I’ve come to not expect too much from the Pussy Cat Lounge.  I quite like the stripper with plenty o’ back and black light friendly extensions, the H addicted waif you fear will fall while reaching out for your dollar bill, the Zena Warrior Princess look alike who flexes her pecks like some contestant in an Iron Man competition.  Sometimes you pay them out of pity.  Sometimes you pay them just go away. And if you’re lucky, they earn that shit.
