The Sullivan Street Shakedown: Five, Eight, Forty// A Celebration Of Photographer Matthew Fitzgerald’s Birthday XL

The Sullivan Street Shakedown: Five, Eight, Forty
A Celebration Of Photographer Matthew Fitzgerald’s Birthday XL

We are throwing it down at The Sullivan Street Shakedown for one of the finest brothers we know. Matt Fitzgerald and his brilliant photography have been helping the scene (and us) grow strong for many years and in honor of his day of birth, we’re putting together an assortment of instrumentalists/deejays that will assemble to bring you hours of audio diamonds. These players are from some of the biggest, baddest stages around, and they’re combining on this night to pull out every stop, every trick in their book – every riff, scratch, slide, snap, boom, bam they’ve ever perfected will be projected at pleasing your soul, moving your body, and bringing this fine human into his next year of life. Matt and his keen eyes have helped breathe life into and move the careers of every performer you’ll see on this night, and with your presence (the best birthday present there is), together, we can turn the focus back on Matt and give him the soiree he so rightfully deserves. From live drum and bass, brass horns, records and cds, to v-drums and kaossed vox, there will be new genres of music formed on this night, and all of it will move you so, come ready to be moved…and dance.

Special photo coverage of this night will be provided by the talented, Daniela Volpi.

SPiN SPiN ThurZday: June 12th!

##### For Immediate Release ######

Party Like It’s Friday!

Who says your after-work happy hour excursion needs to be at the closest pub from your office building, or at your neighborhood dive? Every now and then when the big hand is at number 12 and the little hand is at number 5 (translation: 5 o’clock), we all crave something a little bit different.

Thurzday by SpinSpinNYC offers just that: something a little bit different.

After many successful events including Fuck Rehab and $pread It, Spin It, SpinSpinNYC continues it’s legacy with another round up of electronica-dance-madness at the perfectly balanced Leopard Lounge in NYC’s East Village. Ranging from the wildly outrageous to sweet sonic bliss, SpinSpin’s synergistic party throwing tactics always brings out some really cool and down-to-earth people.

June 12th is the kick-off of Thurzday. A monthly event with some of the best local talent, including resident DJ Nutritious, and your host Zoe Wilder. Let the thump-thump of Thurzday house music get you hyped — this is one of the only true clubbing happy hour events anywhere in the city.

If you work in the area in an office, come dressed to the nines in your work clothes, or be as happy as can be in jeans and casual clothing.

Dress to impress or dress without stress – party early to avoid the mess.

$pread It, Spin It! Party Review and Pictures

The $pread It, Spin It Party at the Leopard Lounge was a sexy success!  I was still adjusting the strings to my black corset when I sauntered into a packed room– wall to wall sexy bitches, dommes, go go dancers, and porn stars paraded around in leather, pvc, latex, lace, and fringe.  The $pread Magazine crew had an impressive display of current and past issues and sexy $pread merchandise (I love my new $pread tank top!).  The walls were adorned with sexy photos taken by Michelle Talich and deliciously haunting paintings by Mistress Cricket.  DJ As If impressed me with a bitchin new remix of Dragonette’s ‘I Get Around.’  DJ Fritz brought the groove on, then introduced a lascivious live performance by Plushus. The girl belted it atop the go go stage whilst sexy dancers went in grind mode down below.  Lucky bastards won dildos and $pread gear throughout the evening. Late night got extra funky when DJ Nutritious hit the decks.  Clothes came off, the dance floor got wicked beneath a twinkling disco ball, and my grin remained plastered pretty on my face until the wee hours of the morn. Nice work, gang! xo, Zo

Winter Music Conference 2008

WMC 07 *sigh* Many fond memories– Dancing on our balcony at the Sagamore Hotel on South Beach to Richie Hawtin, the king of minimal techno, at 2 in the afternoon in my pajamas….room service, sunrises, sunsets, pool parties, pina coladas, lap dances…

If you’re going this year, take a moment to relax (easier said than done during WMC) at the Standard Hotel and Spa. I highly recommend it– infinity pool, hot tub, sauna, massage, delicious organic meals, $65 pitchers of mojitos, and Miambient –“a chilled-out event aimed at awareness-raising and even holistic healing.” Last year, my friends Psylab played Miambient and it was one of my absolute highlights. It’s a very chill vibe. Even the most experienced party professional needs a Yang chaser to go with that generous dose of Yin.

Unfortunately, despite all my best efforts, I am unable to attend this year’s WMC in Sexy Miami. The best cure for seasonal depression is sunshine, electronic music, ocean breezes, bikinis, and dance floors galore. Instead, I’ll be getting my jollies researching and mid-term paper writing. Next year, for sure!

For those party peoples on their way this week, please please please don’t deny yourselves the chance to check out the unstoppable DJ Craig Mitchell. He’s performing at three events. And while you’re dancing-sweaty-nasty-funky-gasping for breath-begging Craig for more, stop for a hot second and listen out for Mikey Beatz’ The Tunnel, just released on Slanted Black Records. It’s hot hot hot!

I’m oh-so-jealous of all you disco fiends this week. Do me a favor and bump n grind yo ass extra hard for me, pretty please. I’ll see you all on the dance floor sometime in the near future — Promise.

xo

Introducing Spin Spin Thursdays!

Mikey Beatz and I have been working very hard to bring you one of the best dance parties around— Introducing SpinSpinThursdays at the Leopard Lounge in the East Village.

Mark Thursday, April 10th down on your calendars! The theme: FUCK REHAB: Come Dressed As Your Best Mess. Festive attire is encouraged. There will be a prize for the most creative costume. I just know your inner Amy Winehouse, Britney Spears, Robert Downey, Jr., Eddie Van Halen, Pete Doherty, and Lindsey Lohan are just dying to break free!

While this theme is a parody, poking fun of all of the starlets and rockstars of late who can’t seem to get their recovery on, it is also a fundraiser for the Harm Reduction Coalition, “a national advocacy and capacity-building organization that promotes the health and dignity of individuals and communities impacted by drug use.”

DJs Deep ‘n Sexy (Gruv Muzik) from Boston will be gracing us with their presence alongside NYC’s own DJ Nutritious. They’ll be busting out sexy house music all night long. Featured artists– Laos Fois, Jaz Graf, Sonia Ko– will be showcasing their art and donating work to the raffle/fundraiser. 2 for 1 Britney Smears Shots will be served, too! Oh, and NO COVER.

So please join us as we dance, collaborate, and fundraise the night away!

xoxox,
Mz. Zoe Wilder

Let me be your raspberry

Last night I dined at the exquisite Perry St in the West Village. After dinner I ordered an orchid oolong tea (my new favorite tea, btw) to sip with my pear sorbet. Over dessert, my friend said, “Hey Zo, didn’t you write a poem….something about rubbing yourself in oolong tea?”

Why, yes. Yes, I did.
